Job Description

Main Job Purpose

The Content & Digital Media Manager will lead Action For Humanity Canada’s video-first content and digital storytelling function. The post-holder will translate AFH Canada’s humanitarian and development work into consistent, compelling and trustworthy content that builds brand awareness, strengthens public confidence, grows online communities and supports fundraising.

This is both a strategic and hands-on production role. The post-holder will manage the complete content lifecycle—from concept development, scripting and filming through editing, publishing, community engagement and performance analysis.

The role will be responsible for building AFH Canada’s permanent video and digital asset library while maintaining an active, always-on social media presence. This includes producing organizational videos, Canada-specific project content, impact stories, testimonials, campaign assets, staff and leadership features, and community-based content.

The post-holder will work closely with the Head of Marketing, Canadian departments, international program teams, external partners and specialist agencies to ensure that AFH Canada’s content is timely, effective, dignified and aligned with organizational priorities.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute AFH Canada’s organic content and social media strategy in alignment with organizational, brand and fundraising priorities.

  • Create and manage monthly content calendars across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn and other priority platforms.

  • Plan, script, film, direct, edit and publish professional short-form and long-form video content.

  • Produce a flagship corporate video introducing AFH Canada, along with shorter versions for social media, websites, events and advertising.

  • Create Canada-specific project videos, campaign assets and fundraising content for priority humanitarian programs.

  • Turn impact reports, program results, field footage and interviews into accessible case studies and donor-focused stories.

  • Produce testimonials and recurring content featuring donors, volunteers, community partners, leadership, staff and field teams.

  • Maintain an active social media presence through Reels, Shorts, Stories, interviews, explainers, field updates and community content.

  • Write effective captions, headlines, video hooks, descriptions and calls to action.

  • Manage online community engagement and respond to comments and messages in accordance with organizational protocols.

  • Improve AFH Canada’s YouTube presence by strengthening titles, thumbnails, playlists, Shorts, and channel organization.

  • Produce creative variations for campaigns and paid advertising in collaboration with the Head of Marketing and external agency partners.

  • Capture priority community activities, partnerships and events, producing timely promotional and post-event content.

  • Support approved influencer and creator partnerships, including research, coordination, content briefs and performance tracking.

  • Maintain consistent video, brand and production standards across all AFH Canada content.

  • Organize and maintain AFH Canada’s raw footage, project files, consent records and completed digital assets.

  • Ensure all content complies with AFH safeguarding, consent, dignity, privacy and ethical storytelling requirements.

  • Monitor content performance and provide monthly insights based on reach, engagement, audience growth, video retention, website traffic and donation-related actions.

  • Collaborate with fundraising, programs, donor care, events and international field teams to identify stories, verify information and deliver content on schedule.

  • Undertake other reasonable duties related to the role, including support for emergency appeals and time-sensitive communications.
