A safe home is more than a roof. Our shelter projects help families displaced by conflict and disaster find safety, dignity, and a path to recovery.
A GLOBAL SHELTER CRISIS
Conflict, disasters, and displacement force millions of families from their homes, often leaving them in unsafe, overcrowded, or temporary living conditions. Without secure shelter, every part of life becomes harder — from staying healthy and protected to keeping children in school and rebuilding after crisis.
A home is more than four walls. Safe, dignified shelter gives families stability, privacy, and a place from which they can begin again.
That is why our work goes beyond immediate shelter. We help families meet urgent needs while supporting recovery, rehabilitation, and the longer journey toward rebuilding their lives and communities. This reflects AFH’s approach of moving from emergency shelter toward sustainable recovery as quickly as possible.
REBUILDING SYRIA: RESTORING HOMES & DIGNITY
For $6,000 CAD, you can help rehabilitate a damaged home for a vulnerable Syrian family, providing safe shelter, privacy, sanitation facilities, windows, doors, roofing repairs, and restored living conditions that allow families to return home with dignity.
Millions of Syrians continue living in tents, overcrowded camps, and damaged buildings with limited access to safety, sanitation, and stability. These shelters are temporary solutions that leave families vulnerable year after year, especially during harsh winter seasons when flooding and freezing temperatures force families to flee once again.
Your support does more than repair walls and roofs — it restores dignity, stability, and hope. A home is where recovery begins. By helping rebuild homes in Syria, you are helping families move beyond survival toward safety, independence, and a future they can finally begin rebuilding.
PAKISTAN SMART HOUSING
Through the Smart Housing Project, Action For Humanity is working with communities to build safe, durable homes for vulnerable families.
These homes are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and provide families with a stable place to live and rebuild their futures.
Our project focuses on:
• Constructing safe and resilient homes for vulnerable families.
• Supporting families affected by floods and extreme poverty.
• Working with local communities and partners to deliver sustainable housing solutions.
• Restoring stability, dignity, and security for families rebuilding their lives. Each home provides protection, privacy, and a safe environment where families can begin again.
GAZA HOPE CAMPS
More than 60,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in Gaza, in what the world is witnessing as genocide. Amid this devastation, our Hope Camps are a lifeline for families.
Our Hope Camps provide displaced families with:
• Safe shelter
• Clean water
• Sanitation
• Spaces where children can play and begin to heal
Thanks to your generosity, we’ve improved living conditions for thousands in Gaza’s New Hope Camp, bringing electricity, water tanks, and waste disposal to families uprooted by airstrikes. During Ramadan 2025, we opened Hope Camp V, welcoming 61 families into safe, dignified shelter.
AL-TAHRIR VILLAGE
IN SYRIA
Thanks to your support, Al-Tahrir Village will be fully operational later this year. Here’s what we’ve accomplished so far:
+340 homes built, each with two rooms, a kitchen, bathroom, and veranda - covering 53.7m² of living space.
+Clean water and sanitation systems fully installed across the site.
+2,040 rightholders safely relocated from the site with access to temporary shelter and sanitation.
+Remaining funds redirected to repair damaged homes, schools, and mosques in newly liberated areas.
+Access to the local school, health centre, and mosque is available nearby.
+A wastewater treatment plant is scheduled for construction to support long-term sustainability.
