Job Description
Purpose of Position
The Part-Time Graphic Designer will produce clear, engaging visual materials that support Action For Humanity Canada’s priority fundraising campaigns, digital communications and community activities.
This is a focused, hands-on role designed around an agreed part-time schedule. The post-holder will primarily adapt approved campaign concepts, create routine digital assets and deliver selected print and event materials. Work will be planned and prioritized with the Head of Marketing so expectations remain realistic within the available hours.
The post-holder will work closely with the Head of Marketing and Content & Digital Media Manager to maintain a consistent, professional and recognizable visual presence. During humanitarian emergencies, the role may support a limited number of urgent assets based on agreed priorities and availability.
Responsibilities

Create visual assets for agreed fundraising, awareness and community campaigns.

Design routine social media graphics for AFH Canada’s priority digital channels.

Adapt approved campaign materials for Canadian audiences, formats and calls to action.

Create email graphics, website banners and selected landing-page assets.

Produce a manageable range of print and event materials, such as posters, flyers, signage and presentation graphics.

Resize and reformat approved creative for different digital and print specifications.

Develop and maintain a small library of reusable Canva templates for common design needs.

Create simple infographics and impact graphics using approved program information.

Apply AFH brand guidelines consistently across assigned materials.

Prepare production-ready artwork and liaise with printers or suppliers when assigned.

Maintain organized source files, templates and completed artwork.

Work with the Content & Digital Media Manager to align graphics with social, video and photography content.

Manage assigned requests within the agreed weekly hours, flag competing deadlines early and confirm priorities with the Head of Marketing.

Review final creative for accuracy and ensure it meets safeguarding, consent, dignity, privacy and ethical storytelling requirements.

Support a limited number of urgent campaign assets when availability and agreed priorities allow.
Job Requirements
Education
-
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Advertising, Marketing or a related discipline.

An equivalent combination of professional experience, design training and a strong portfolio will be considered.

A strong professional design portfolio demonstrating digital, social, campaign and print work is essential.
Experience
-
Minimum two years of professional graphic design experience in an agency, nonprofit, charity, marketing or in-house environment.

Experience producing digital and print campaign materials, including social media graphics and event collateral.

Experience adapting existing brand or campaign materials across formats.
-
Experience preparing production-ready artwork for print is desirable.

Experience managing assigned work independently and communicating clearly about timelines and capacity.

Experience supporting fundraising, humanitarian, community or values-led work is an asset.
Skills

Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

Strong proficiency with Canva, including reusable templates and brand kits.

Strong understanding of typography, colour, composition, hierarchy, image selection and visual storytelling.

Ability to interpret a clear brief and translate it into effective visual communication.

Understanding of common social media, web and print specifications.

Strong understanding of print production, file preparation, resolution, bleed, colour profiles and production specifications.

Strong organization and time-management skills within a part-time schedule.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fundraising communications.

Ability to receive feedback, interpret creative direction and revise work efficiently.

Sound judgment when selecting or designing around sensitive humanitarian imagery and stories involving vulnerable communities.

Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a multicultural, mission-driven organization.
Languages️

Excellent written and spoken English is essential.

Professional proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable.

French or another relevant language is an asset.
Work Environment

Part-time role working an agreed schedule with the Head of Marketing; specific weekly hours and working pattern will be confirmed separately.

Primarily office-based or hybrid design, production and collaboration work, subject to organizational arrangements.

Work will be prioritized according to available hours; the post-holder is not expected to provide continuous or on-call design coverage.

Occasional attendance at a priority event or campaign activity may be requested with advance notice and mutual agreement.
