Action for Humanity Canada is honored to be represented at the 77th Session of the UNHCR Executive Committee (ExCom) in Geneva, Switzerland, from 12–16 October 2026.

Our representative, Yassine Labidi, joins the Canadian delegation as the civil-society representative of the Humanitarian Response Network of Canada (HRN), contributing to discussions on refugee protection, durable solutions, and the future of humanitarian action.

In his address today, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Barham Salih emphasized the importance of moving beyond emergency assistance towards sustainable solutions for displaced people:

“Success must be measured by whether people’s lives have actually improved, whether they are self-sufficient, and whether they are no longer dependent on humanitarian assistance” (Barham, 2026).

This message reinforces the importance of the “Team Canada” approach, bringing together government, civil society, refugee advocates, private-sector partners, and the broader Canadian public to advance refugee protection and lasting solutions.

At Action for Humanity Canada, we recognize that meaningful progress requires more than responding to immediate needs. It demands sustained investment in self-reliance, inclusive systems, local leadership, and opportunities for refugees to rebuild their lives with dignity.

We welcome the opportunity to bring the perspectives of Canadian humanitarian organizations and affected communities into global policy discussions and to strengthen partnerships that translate commitments into meaningful action.

Protection saves lives. Sustainable solutions restore futures. Collective action makes both possible.
