SYRIA LIBERATION 1 YEAR ON
Families are returning home after over a decade of displacement. We’re rebuilding homes, essential services, and supporting communities to start again.
REBUILDING SYRIA, ONE YEAR ON
One year on from Syria’s liberation, families are returning home, schools are reopening, and essential services are slowly re-emerging. But daily life remains challenging. Damaged infrastructure, limited healthcare, and restricted livelihoods continue to hold communities back.
Action For Humanity has been on the ground for more than 14 years, delivering health, education, protection, WASH, and emergency support. Over the past year, our teams have reached newly accessible areas and supported local communities to help families rebuild safely and with dignity.

HOW YOUR SUPPORT IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE
As Syria continues its transition, AFH will focus on expanding healthcare, restoring critical infrastructure, strengthening education, and supporting livelihoods in newly accessible areas. Our priority is to build long-term resilience while ensuring families have safe, dignified access to essential services.
Reconstruction and Shelter
Supporting families in newly liberated areas in Lattakia and Daraa with emergency items, solar systems, and essential supplies, improving living conditions while larger-scale shelter rehabilitation continues into Year Two.
Water and Sanitation
Strengthening hygiene and basic services by supplying essential WASH items and supporting communities facing sudden displacement, with broader infrastructure upgrades planned under the new 2025–2029 strategy.
Health Services
Expanding healthcare access by deploying 48 medical staff, providing 115 surgeries and 723 specialist consultations, and training 137 healthcare workers, alongside sustained primary healthcare support.
Food Security and Livelihoods
Seasonal distributions reached 44,525 people with food baskets, hot meals, zakat, and Qurbani support, while specialised assistance, including prosthetics and urgent surgeries, helped restore mobility and independence.
Protection & Community Support
Delivering essential items to families affected by wildfires and displacement, while preparing to expand community-based protection and youth programming in Year Two.
