Job Description

 

Main Job Purpose

To support AFH Canada’s summer fundraising efforts by strengthening relationships with university and college MSAs, building new partnerships across the GTA and nationwide, and assisting in mosque-based fundraising activities as part of the summer campaign schedule.

This role is ideal for a student passionate about community work, outreach, and humanitarian fundraising.

Key Responsibilities

1. MSA Outreach & Relationship Building
• Map all MSAs across GTA universities & colleges and priority campuses across Canada.
• Conduct outreach via email, phone, and in-person visits to introduce AFH and build partnerships.
• Schedule and support meetings with MSA executives, student leaders, and campus clubs.
• Develop a central database of MSA contacts and maintain communication records.
• Pitch volunteer opportunities, student-led fundraisers, tabling events, and awareness campaigns.
• Represent AFH at campus visits, summer orientations, or community events.

2. Mosque Fundraising Support
• Assist in outreach to GTA mosques to secure fundraising slots and strengthen relationships.
• Attend Friday/Jummah collections, community events, and masjid fundraisers when required.
• Support the fundraising team with logistics, volunteer coordination, and materials.
• Maintain income logs and ensure proper documentation, aligned with AFH fundraising procedures.

3. Community Engagement & Representation
• Act as an ambassador for AFH Canada at community events, campus visits, and local programs.
• Promote AFH campaigns, projects, and impact in a professional and inspiring manner.
• Support social media outreach by gathering photos, videos, and content during visits.

4. Administrative & Reporting Support
• Update CRM logs with contact information, meetings, donations, and engagement activities.
• Prepare weekly progress updates and end-of-term summary reports.
• Support planning of summer events, small fundraisers, and community activations.

Job Requirements

Education (CSJ Eligible)
• Must meet the Canada Summer Jobs eligibility criteria.
• Interest in fundraising, community outreach, non-profit work, or a related field.

Experience
(Experience not required but an asset)
• Previous involvement with student clubs/MSAs is an asset.
• Any volunteer experience in non-profit, fundraising, or community work is beneficial.
• Knowledge of the Muslim community landscape in the GTA is an asset.

Skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Comfortable initiating conversations and building relationships.
• Able to travel to campuses and mosques across the GTA.
• Highly organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple outreach tasks.
• Basic competency with MS Office, email communication, and spreadsheets.
• Ability to represent AFH professionally with donors, students, and partners.

Languages️
• Strong written and spoken English
• Knowledge of Arabic or Urdu is an asset

Other Requirements
• Flexible schedule to attend some evening or weekend events.
• Access to a car is required along with a valid license.

Expected Start Date: May 11th, 2026
Expected End Date: July 3rd, 2026
Work Term: 8 weeks
Hours: 30 hours/week
Rate: $20 CAD/hour.
